Who need to get screening for sexual transmitted infection (STI)?

How soon can I get tested for STDs after unprotected sex? 

  • Chlamydia          24 hours - 5 days          Retesting 2 weeks for urethral swab

  • Gonorrhea          2-6 days                           Retesting the test 1 week after treatment.                                                                                                  Then follow up 3 months for Syphilis & HIV                                                                                                screening. 

  • Syphilis                 3-6 weeks                        Retesting the test at 1, 3, 6, 12 months                                                                                                        after first test

  • Hepatitis A          2-7 weeks                        Retesting is not necessary
